introductory woodturning COURSES...
The Valley Woodturners are pleased to offer an Introductory Course to Woodturning. Classes typically run on three separate weekends (3 Saturdays, or 3 Sundays) depending on availability of instructors and the training location. We are fortunate to have access to the Lee Valley Seminar room for the classes - 900 Morrison Drive (off Greenbank Rd. just south of 417. Having classes on weekends allows students to practice what they have learned, and to read up on the subject in the provided woodturning book.
Class size is 6-7 students, with 3 instructors. The club provides the necessary Rikon midi size lathes, all the tools and the materials required. The course includes spindle turning (beads & coves and even the skew chisel), sharpening, making a mallet, a plate and a bowl. We try to stress safety and tool control thru these lessons so that the new turner has a good understanding of the process to enjoy their new passion.
The cost is $460.00 per student which includes a membership to the Valley Woodturners (a $60.00 Value) for the year the course takes place. Insurance limits the age to those 18 years old and older. Because of the very high demand course allocations are confirmed upon receipt of payment on a first come/first served basis. These courses sell out very, very quickly so don’t delay!
