the MariAn McGee award
We are always looking for members to submit a turning as part of the Marian McGee Award and Challenge. The 2025 entries were judged at our June 2025 meeting and the winning submission was presented to Aude Laguens, the top student at the University of Ottawa's School of Nursing. Congratulations, Aude! The winning submission was created by Roger Mattiuz. Aude, Roger, and his creation are pictured below.
Turning & Turner of the Year 2025
We started a couple of new initiatives this past year - Turning of the Year and Turner of the Year. At our June 2025, the entries for the "Turning of the Year" were judged by our expert panel. All the submissions were incredibly well done. You can see them all in the Gallery here. One particular turning stood out - Roger Mattiuz's entry not only captured the Marion McGee Award, but also the "Turning of the Year" Award. His entry is pictured above.
For the "Turner of the Year" Award, the recipient was Dave Parker who amassed an incredible amount of points through his participation in the club's Show and Tell and turning competitions. Dave is pictured below. Congratulations, Dave!
